Core Vessel is a flowing, oversized kaftan handcrafted from authentic 100% cotton Bassam Batik. Rooted in West African artisanal tradition, this piece blends symbolism and ease, drawing visual inspiration from the feminine form, seed cores, vessels, and shields—elements that speak to protection, creation, and inner strength.

Hand-dyed in Ivory, Forest Green, and Vibrant Orange, each kaftan is one of a kind. Variations in tone, motif placement, and texture are intentional, reflecting the organic nature of traditional batik craftsmanship.

Design & Silhouette

Designed as a loose-fit boubou (kaftan), Core Vessel offers a relaxed, sculptural drape that moves effortlessly with the body. The silhouette is intentionally oversized and non–body-hugging, creating comfort while maintaining a striking presence.

The garment features a partial side seam construction, stitched from the base of the armhole down toward the hem. This leaves a subtle side flap opening of approximately 6–7 cm, allowing airflow and fluid movement. Sleeves are not sewn separately; instead, arm openings are cut directly into the kaftan form, reinforcing its traditional shape.

A classic shirt collar with a short front placket adds structure and versatility, finished with two functional buttons for adjustable styling.
